JavaScript JavaScript Basics (Retired) Storing and Tracking Information with Variables Using String Methods

Using String Methods

Complete the assignment to the userName variable by adding a # symbol followed by an all uppercase version of the lastName variable. In other words, using string concatenation so that the final value of userName is "23188XTR#SMITH".

i dont understand what they want me to do

app.js
var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";
id.toUpperCase()

var userName
index.html

<html>
<head>
  <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">

So they're looking for you to take the username add the symbole '#' and use a method to get the last name to be uppercase, which is '.toUpperCase()'. Take a look at this:

userName + "#" + lastName.toUpperCase();

Close but...

In other words, using string concatenation so that the final value of userName is "23188XTR#SMITH".

it should be id instead:

id + '#' + lastName.toUpperCase()
