There should be two blank lines after a function and class

Checked the PEP8 guidelines but the results was still wrong

pep.py 
import datetime


def my_func():
    return ('It ran!')


sizes = ['small', 'medium', 'large']
class Tree:


    def __init__(self, size, characteristics):
        self.size = size
        self.charac = characteristics
        self.roots = True
        self.leaves = 0

    def grow_leaves(self):
        self.leaves += 1


Tree(sizes[0], {'name': 'Tulip Tree'})

Hey Allison Seim, there are two style “errors” to correct:

  • the parens amount the function’s returned string are unnecessary. They’re not needed, Though this is **not* a PEP8 error
  • add two blank lines above the class definition

Non-error: the two blank lines after the class signature line and the first method can be removed.

I have the following but still getting the same error;

def my_func():
    return ('It ran!')


sizes = ['small', 'medium', 'large']

Looks like an extra blank line is needed after the class definition. Be sure they are truly blank (no trailing spaces on any lines)

Took it out, but still seems to be creating an error 🤔

    self.leaves += 1

You can gain insight into the error by using the “Show Preview” button. The first error indicates you’ve added unnecessary parens in the statement return ‘It ran!’
