Splash page in wordpress

How do i build a splash page in wordpress?

Bar using one of the many plugins out there, you could create a custom page template, e.g Splash Page. Then create the splash page within Wordpress, change the template to this splash page and finally, change the reading settings of Wordpress to go to this newly created splash page as the home page?

Plugins are a solid way to go. You can also try building your own from scratch (Treehouse's WordPress development track should be helpful for this).
