python collections code challenge

Hi!

"Make a new function named first_and_last_4. It'll accept a single iterable but, this time, it'll return the first four and last four items as a single value."

I dont't know what is the problem here. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!:)

slices.py 
def first_4(x):
    a = x[:4]
    return a

def first_and_last_4(y):
    b = y[:4]
    c = y[-1:-5:-1]
    #c.sort()
    d = b + c
    y = "".join(d)
    return y

Oh don't worry Gabor, it did not come easy. I have gone through the python track about 3 times now. I still have to look things up all the time. It gets better my friend, just keep on pushing through!

Hey Gabor, with slices you can make it a lot easier. 

def first_and_last_4(arg):
    return arg[:4] + arg[-4:]
