I need to learn about APIs and JSON to use with exporting to Apple News. Courses?

I'm talking ground-level, welcome to API with an eye to using it with exporting stories to Apple News. I know there is a plug-in for Wordpress (I'm using WP) but it's unreliable and throws lots of errors. I need to learn how to dig in at the ground level.

Most courses in APIs assume I have some knowledge of the "basics." Nope.

Have never really even worked with API and JSON. Where do I save files? How does any of this function? I'm asking because I'm willing to work cross-tracks if need be.

Also: I'm aware Apple News has lots of documentation. It all assumes some basic knowledge of API and JSON.
