How do I get better in competitive coding challenges?

I generally get demotivated when I can't solve a medium level question at hackerrank.

Can you always solve one of the next lower rating? If so, it only makes sense to challenge yourself with the level where not every solution comes easily.

When you get stuck, try asking specific questions in a forum. Do they have their own? If not, you could ask here.
