How It All Began

Hi, my name is Jason Gilmore 0:10 and many of you watching this video, I am a coder who likes to make things. 0:12 I've also had a lifelong interest in the Cold War, 0:18 which is a historical period 0:23 that began approximately at the end of World War II. 0:25 and concluded around 1990-1991 with the fall of the Soviet Union, 0:30 the reunification of Eastern and Western Germany, and so forth. 0:36 I've always liked this period of history, primarily 0:41 because of the exciting espionage-related activity 0:44 that occurred during this period, and which has been chronicled 0:48 in movies, TV shows, and of course many, many books along the way. 0:53 I've also always been a lifelong 0:58 fan of the James Bond movies things that 1:01 and so I'm not even sure when this occurred 1:05 but many years ago perhaps a decade ago or maybe even more 1:09 I had this idea to start a little side project or side business 1:14 called Spies in DC 1:19 with the goal of basically 1:22 teaching others who might have a similar interest in the Cold War 1:25 about critical events that occurred during this period 1:29 basically introduce them 1:33 to documents, famous speeches, things that. 1:36 So I had this idea a long time ago, but I never invested the time and effort 1:39 to get it off the ground, primarily because I just didn't think I could fit it 1:44 into my schedule, right? 1:48 I have a full-time job. 1:49 I have a family with a few young children. 1:51 And so there just never seemed to be the time to do this, 1:55 at least in the way that I wanted to do it. 1:58 That is to say, until this recent crop 2:01 of artificial intelligence tools came along, or AI tools. 2:05 As I began investigating some of these 2:10 tools, this spies in DC idea came back to mind and I thought, wow, 2:13 I could really use some of these tools to not only do some research, 2:18 but launch and then manage this business 2:24 on the side, on the evenings, on the weekends, and so forth. 2:27 So we thought it might be fun to kind of walk you through 2:31 some of the steps that I took, some of the tools that I used 2:36 to, again, research, launch, 2:41 and manage this business and that's what this video is going to be all about. 2:44
