WordPress - Set image size for all images with matching category slug

I've done some research online but haven't found a simple solution for setting image sizes for images with matching category slugs.

I'm currently following the WordPress track and I'm using a bootstrap carousel where my images have different height/widths, which is collapsing the carousels height.

I know I can do some css tweaking to set these images to a certain height/width, however I feel setting these parameters through a wordpress function would be a more full-proof alternative.

Is this possible?
