Wordpress plugin development for automotive aftermarket parts

So I want to build a theme and plugin for this industry and I need some guidance. The idea is very simple, and I'm pretty sure there might already be something out there, but I just don't feel like it's being done right.

I have this vision of how it should look and feel, but I just can't put it together. My goal is to have something between a mix of carmax and truecar.

I need to help for guidance as to where to begin. The plugin would be a tool that can import an two XML files:

  • Year/Make/Model/Engine/Part information.
  • Product information

I appreciate any help. I'm sure there will be tons of questions that I might not even know the answer to.
