I am a web designer trying to learn how to build websites - I have started looking into learning Wordpress to use as a CMS for sites that I would potentially build for clients.
I'm currently following the "How to Make a Website with WordPress" course and am finding it difficult - the problem being it seems to be teaching from the perspective of how to take an existing Wordpress theme and tweaking it to fit different content in it. The angle I am coming from is I know generally how to build a site using just html and css i.e. not editable by an end user with no CMS, and I want to know how to link the 2 together. When I design a site, I don't currently think about, 'this content will be a widget', 'this content will need custom post types with custom fields x y z'.
I think at this stage I'm looking for a course that explains the fundamentals behind Wordpress, what it does and how it works, much like the html and css courses do. Would someone be able to suggest a better course to start from?
