4,292 PointsWhy will let listItems = document.querySelectorAll('#rainbow') now work as the first line of code here?
This should solve the objective??
listItems = document.querySelectorAll('#rainbow')
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title>Rainbow!</title>
</head>
<body>
<ul id="rainbow">
<li>This should be red</li>
<li>This should be orange</li>
<li>This should be yellow</li>
<li>This should be green</li>
<li>This should be blue</li>
<li>This should be indigo</li>
<li>This should be violet</li>
</ul>
<script src="js/app.js"></script>
</body>
</html>
let listItems = document.querySelectorAll('#rainbow');
const colors = ["#C2272D", "#F8931F", "#FFFF01", "#009245", "#0193D9", "#0C04ED", "#612F90"];
for(var i = 0; i < colors.length; i ++) {
listItems[i].style.color = colors[i];
}

Treehouse TeacherThe code let listItems = document.querySelectorAll('#rainbow');
selects the unordered list element (the <ul>
tag), not the list items inside the <ul>
tag. You need to modify your code so that it selects the <li>
tags.

Front End Web Development Techdegree Graduate 33,271 Pointsthat selects everything with the id of rainbow. to reach inside you need to modify it just a little bit. you can select them just like you would with CSS.

4,292 PointsI thought the objective was to select the ordered list with the id of rainbow? Can you provide me with an example of how I can pass the objective? I am not familiar with CSS much yet, I am new to all of this.

5,091 PointsHey all,
I solved the problem using this:
let listItems = document.querySelectorAll('#rainbow > li');
Cheers, Felipe

4,292 PointsThanks Dave,
For anyone who reads this I was able to accomplish this by using:
document.getElementsByTagName("li");
Selecting the list elements themselves instead of the unordered list.
