Why use the resource class to get the string when it could have been done without it ?

Why use getResource().getString(R.string.string_key) when we could simply use getString(R.string.string_key) to get the string value.

Both do the same thing, getString() is the shortcut. The only reason for writing also getResources() is for you to understand that the String retrieved is a resource of your app.
