Why is this not working with arrow functions?

The exercise appears to be correct when I write

$('button').click(function() {
    const newName = $('#name-input').val();
});

However, I want to use arrow functions, which to my understanding should be

$('button').click( () => {
    const newName = $('#name-input').val();
});

But when I click on submit, it acts as if there was no JS code.

What am I missing? Thanks!

index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
    <title>Document</title>
</head>
<body>
    <h2 class="profile-name">Treasure Porth</h2>
    <p class="profile-text">I am a web developer!</p>

    <label>Change name:<input id="name-input" type="text"></label>
    <button>Change</button>

    <script
    src="jquery-3.2.1.min.js"></script>
    <script src="app.js"></script>
</body>
</html>
app.js
$('button').click( () => {
    const newName = $('#name-input').val();
});

This would be fine in your own code, but the challenge instructions ask you to add code "Inside the provided click handler...", so they expect the provided code (including the function declaration) not to change.
