JavaScript JavaScript and the DOM (Retiring) Making Changes to the DOM Modifying Elements

Why is this not passing linkName = document.getElementById('link').innerHTML this is the value of the link?

There seems to be disconnect between what is being taught and the latest quiz content. I think that this should work.

index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
    <head>
        <title>DOM Manipulation</title>
    </head>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css" />
    <body>
        <div id="content">
            <label>Link Name:</label>
            <input type="text" id="linkName">
            <a id="link" href="https://teamtreehouse.com"></a>
        </div>
        <script src="app.js"></script>
    </body>
</html>
app.js
let linkName = document.querySelector('input').value;
linkName = document.getElementById('link').innerHTML;

You may have misread the instructions.

Task 2 of the challenge says: "Set the text content of the a tag to be the value stored in the variable linkName."

But instead of setting an element property to the value in linkName, you are setting linkName to an element property (again).

Also, the property that should be set is textContent (not innerHTML).
