Why is the onDestroy method NOT guaranteed to be called when app is killed?

The question says:

"When Android kills an activity we're not guaranteed to see any more lifecycle methods. Knowing that, which lifecycle method is not guaranteed to be called?"

The answer is onDestroy. Why? It seems like it must call onDestroy when it gets killed. I think the question might have a typo in it.
