JavaScript JavaScript and the DOM (Retiring) Getting a Handle on the DOM Select a Page Element By Its ID

Why is the Code working fine without selecting the element and using the ID directly?

... JS myButton.addEventListener('click', () => { myHeading.style.color = myTextInput.value; }); ...

Hi Pradeep,

The elements are selected by ID and stored in variables on the first three lines:

const myHeading = document.getElementById('myHeading');
const myButton = document.getElementById('myButton');
const myTextInput = document.getElementById('myTextInput');

These variables, referring to the elements, are then used in the rest of the code.

I hope this helps -- let me know if you have any questions!
