Why is my code not working?

var message = ''; var student; var search;

function print(message) { var outputDiv = document.getElementById('output'); outputDiv.innerHTML = message; }

function getStudentReport(student) { var report = "<h2>Student: " + student.name + "</h2>"; report += '<p>Track: ' + student.track + '</p>'; report += '<p>Points: ' + student.points + '</p>'; report += '<p>Achievements: ' + student.achievements + '</p>'; return report; }

while(true) { search = prompt("Search"); if(search === null || search.toLowerCase() === "quit") { break; }

for (var i = 0; i < students.length; i += 1) { student = students[i];

if (student.name === search) {
  message = getStudentReport(student);
  print(message);
}

}

}

Are you defining the students array in another file? It's not defined in the source code you pasted.

Also, to format your code nicely on the forums, add 3 backticks (```) before and after your code, see the markdown cheatsheet for more information.

:point_right: Did you see the update in the teacher's notes?

It says that modern browsers generally wait until the loop finishes and then they print to the window. So, you'll see a blank page until you type "quit" in the prompt window — and then you'll see all the output printed to the screen.

Does that explain your issue? If not, did you account for the search being case-sensitive (so "dave" will not match "Dave")?

If it's neither of those, it might help if you show the rest of the code and describe what's happening for you.

I was about to break the monitor until I read your comment! I was checking and checking again and I couldn't find what went wrong. Thanks!!!
