Why is it that all the alert statements runs first and than the document statement runs?

Why in the code below all two alert statement runs first and than the document statement when this script file is linked in the head of the html file......................

alert("Hi this is my first javascript program");

document.write("<h1>This is a heading</h1>")

alert("This is the alert two.")

console.log("Program is complete")

Ok, so in another words, JS will run first, and then the html will load on current browsers? So what the video was talking about is a bit outdated now then?
