Why does the video include the "and" operator in between the media type and media feature? @media screen AND (min...)

According the the CSS tricks resource on media queries (https://css-tricks.com/a-complete-guide-to-css-media-queries/), the operator is in between two or more media features. Is there any reason to include "and" before the first media feature as shown in the video?

viz. @media screen AND (min-width: 400px) and (max-width: 800px) {

}

I'm not sure if there's a need for it or not, but if you look through the snippets in the article, at least half of them have the and between screen and the first parameter, and others don't, so there doesn't seem to be a need for it, and it also looks like it doesn't cause issues, either.

Thanks for your answer!
