why does my red border stretch all the way to the right?

This is my code:

.main-pg { border: solid red 10px; }

The border doesn't just wrap around my paragraph nicely. It stretches all the way to the right so there's a lot of space inside that red rectangle

Hi Eugene,

Dave is correct in what he is saying, the <p> tag is by default, a block level element. So the red border is illustrating how much space a block level element takes up by default.

If you added the code, display: inline-block; to the rule this would clearly show you the difference.

Hope this helps

Craig :)

Could it be that a <p> - paragraph is a block-level element?
