Why are we using {} to represent no values? (7:00) renderer.view("header", {}, response);

Are we using the {} because they are universal place holders for function call parameters? Is it because the values are in a JSON obj? I understand that they need to be there I just don't understand why we can't use something like:

renderer.view("header", (), response); or renderer.view("header", "", response);

Thank you

The view method in renderer.js needs three params: templateName, value and response. The {} is an empty object, which is what it needs when you don't want to put content in it through this method. If you use (), it is not an empty object.
