Hi Marina! This is the first step. Just use toUpperCase() string method with id variable and add to userName variable.

var userName = id.toUpperCase();

The second step is similar but please look again this video(https://teamtreehouse.com/library/combining-strings-2). When you solve task 2 pay attention the space characters. Hope this help!

I fail to see the "#" in the concatenation equation.
