HTML HTML Basics Structuring Your Content Structuring Content Challenge

Where would be the correct place to use the <section> tags?

Place the content between the header and footer inside an element that groups together related sections of content.

I tried placing <section></section> tags after the <header> tag and before the <footer> tag and it said it was incorrect.

Without seeing the code that you tried, it's hard to say what you did wrong.. from your description of what you did, sounds like you did it right. Maybe you had a simple syntax or spelling error.

Here is my code

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
  <head>
    <link href="styles.css" rel="stylesheet">
    <title>My Portfolio</title>
  </head>
  <body>

    <header>
     <ul>
      <li><a href="#">About</a></li>
      <li><a href="#">Work</a></li>
      <li><a href="#">Contact</a></li>
    </ul>
     <h1>My Web Design &amp; Development Portfolio!</h1>
     <p>A site featuring my latest work.</p>
    </header>

    <section>
     <h2>Welcome</h2>
     <p>Fusce semper id ipsum sed scelerisque. Etiam nec elementum massa. Pellentesque tristique ex ac ipsum hendrerit, eget feugiat ante faucibus.</p>
     <ul>
      <li><a href="#">Recent project #1</a></li>
      <li><a href="#">Recent project #2</a></li>
      <li><a href="#">Recent project #3</a></li>
     </ul>
    </section>

<footer>
    <p>&copy; 2017 My Portfolio</p>
    <p>Follow me on <a href="#">Twitter</a>, <a href="#">Instagram</a> and <a href="#">Dribbble</a></p>

 </footer>
  </body>
</html>

Thank you very much, this was very helpful.

Did you just create an empty section by putting both tags together, or did you enclose the content between them? The challenge is asking you to do the latter.

I was putting the opening and closing section tags in the wrong place but thank you very much.
