When will we do some coding in the actual workspace?

You are writing code in the "actual workspace". You're just using its Console.

Don't worry, you'll be working in a file pretty soon.

You need to learn basic syntax before you can start writing code in files. It's crawling before walking. And you'll use the console to write code every day.
