What's the point of using setter while I can create new property like =, normal assign

I understand getter, but can't see the point of setter.

ernie.owner = 'Ashely'

This line of code does the same when I don't use setter. So what is exactly the benefit of using a setter?

I figure it out myself. The point is encapsulation. We need a better style to let other people understand our code more easily.

also can do logic in setter and getter before return value
