What is webp?

Of course, the simple answer is it's an image file format developed by Google to provide lossless compression for photograph images.

But how on earth do I access it?

My computer doesn't seem to recognise them and I can find no tutorial or info out there for how to use it.

If I try to convert a simple image using www.online-convert.com which purports to convert image files to the format, I simply get a HTML file returned.

Can someone demystify all this for me? :)

When I use the image converter tool at www.online-converter.com, I get a .webp format file. From there, you should be able to right click the image and open it with Google Chrome.

Hi Adam, so sorry it's been so late replying but yes you're right, I've just put a little web page together to test it out and the converter does seem to have worked. :)
