in the example, my favorite flavors are : "+ ', '.join(flavors) and my favorite flavors are: ',' {}.format(flavors), the same results were returned. what is the point of format?

I believe there would be difference.
For example:
str = "formatting list {}"
lis = ["1", "2", "3"]
str.format(lis)
#output will be, "formatting list ['1', '2', '3']"
whereas,
str = "formatting list {}"
lis = ["1", "2", "3"]
str.format(", ".join(list))
#output will be, 'formatting list 1, 2, 3'
