319 PointsWhat is the best way to clone a remote site to local machine to work locally?
What I was thinking was to use Desktop Server and use SSH to zip site up and download it. Then sync the DB. Still feels clunky. Am I missing something?

12,222 PointsThe standard approach to clone websites (from local to server, server to local, or server to server) - is all same and consists of two/three steps-
1) Zip your filesystem (wordpress root folder) and copy it to destination. 2) Export your database schema from source, then import it to target database. 3) Change any necessary URLs (eg- in wp_options table or wc-config.xml)

Courses Plus Student 2,222 PointsThe best way that I've found is to download your site with an ftp software like Filezilla and then in your wordpress admin go to Tools and then click on Export, choose All content and click download Export file.
Then on your local machine import the xml file you just downloaded :)
