What is a uni/ unit converter?

Alena keeps using this term "uni or unit converter", I don't really get it from the video. What does it mean?

A unit converter is just something that converts a number into different units of measurement. For example:

To convert a distance from miles to kilometres, multiply by 1.6 (approximately).
