CSS Declaring and Using CSS Variables

What does :root mean in CSS when using variables?

How does using :root in CSS differ from just using custom classes in CSS?

Hello Ming. :Root is a pseudo-class selector and it always take the top element (parent element) so it has a higher specificity than other declarations. So when you declare ":root" , it will have a higher specificity. Hope this answers your question
