What am I forgetting to add to my conditional statement?

I've gone through my code over and over and can't seem to find why I keep getting a parse error on my code. I sure its something minor but please help.

script.js
var a = 10;
var b = 20;
var c = 30;

if(var a > var b) {
document.write("<p> a is greater than b </p>");
} else {
document.write("<p> a is not greater than b </p>");
}

I see a few issues:

  • variables are only declared once (and not inside comparison expressions), so no "var"s in the "if"
  • the instructions ask you to "pop up an alert" instead of writing to the document
  • alert messages will not need HTML tags

Used the alert function at first and thought that might be what was causing the issue but turns out it was alert that should've been used along with the other thing you listed. Thanks a lot Steven!
