what am I doing wrong? I am using the direct child selector so why will it not accept my answer?

I have done everything. Even changed to different selectors i knew that were wrong. > this is the direct child selector am I wrong?

Hi Payton,

The order of your selectors is mixed up. The first selector is the parent, the second is the child.

The challenge wants you to "write a selector that targets a <span> that is a direct child of a <div>"

Right now your target is a <div> that is a child of a <span>.
