What am i doing wrong guys? The interface says"Bummer! Did you add the '#' character between `id` and `lastName`?"

What am i doing wrong guys? The interface says"Bummer! Did you add the '#' character between id and lastName?" The code is:

var id = "23188xtr"; var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id.toUpperCase(); var lastName = lastName.toUpperCase(); userName = id + "#" + lastName;

You doing right, but you did not redefined id to uppercase:

var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id.toUpperCase(); // 23188XTR
var lastName = lastName.toUpperCase(); // SMITH
userName = id + "#" + lastName; // 23188xtr#SMITH

your userName should be:

userName = userName + "#" + lastName;

or redefine ID:

id = id.toUpperCase();

although I do believe that would work, the challenge wants you to concatenate the method and the # into just one var. like so:

var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";

var username = id.toUpperCase(); + "#" + lastName.toUpperCase();
