what am I doing wrong?

I tested the code in the editor and it worked but won't work here. don't know what to do

var b = 20;
var c = 30;

if('a' > 'b') {
   alert("a is greater than b");
}

else{
alert("a is not greater then b");
}

You don't need the quote marks around a and b. They are vars, not strings.

var a = 10;
var b = 20;
var c = 30;

if (a > b) {
    alert('a is greater than b')
}
else {
    alert('a is not greater than b')
}

a, b, c are variables. By adding quotes you have converted them to their text equivalent. It should be

if(a > b) {

note: you will also have to fix the alert under else to pass the challenge.
