web design dimensions

when designing for large screens like 1920 * 1080, should i design using the full height 1080 px or the height of the viewport which is 984px ?

Hi Eslam,

The most common practice is to design according to the width of the screen (of any device). For example the height of the screen on my phone is much bigger than its width. People generally don't mind scrolling down, but most dislike having to navigate websites horizontally, especially when there's no good reason for this design choice.
