Ive follow this and apparently, something so simple, has me stuck.. what am i doing wrong?

You are calling the shift prior to setting shipping, this causes shipping to be the second element, not the first.
Try this code instead:
var orderQueue = ['1XT567437','1U7857317','1I9222528'];
var shipping = orderQueue.shift();
