Unsure how to set up MySQL RepositoryInterface

I'm feeling very stuck on this question. I've set up database connections successfully with PDO, but I feel like the question isn't giving me all the information I need. When it says the function accepts a table, is it literally just a string name of a certain table in a database, or is it something else? Also, is the connection already configured, or does this function have to do that as well? If so, I wouldn't know the path to do that.

Eventually figured it out by looking at other answers, but I don't think there's enough information contained in the question.
