UnboundLocalError

I'm not sure what is wrong with the code, when I run it it gives me a UnboundLocalError. Can I use fuel_remaining in my second method the way that I have?

racecar.py
class RaceCar:

    laps = 0

    def __init__(self, color, fuel_remaining, **kwargs):
        self.color = color
        self.fuel_remaining = fuel_remaining

        for key, value in kwargs.items():
            setattr(self, key, value)

    def run_lap(self, length):
        self.length = length
        fuel_remaining = fuel_remaining - (length * 0.125)
        laps += 1

Since it's a local field, "fuel_remaining" needs a "self." prefix. "Laps" will need one also.

But creating a "self.length" is not part of the instructions.

Thank you for the help!
