Trouble staying engaged with the UX Basics course

I am about halfway through the UX Basics course and I am really having a tough time staying engaged and retaining the topics.

I think my main issue is that the bulk of the videos involve Lis speaking into camera with the occasional supporting animation in between. The content being put forth by Lis is very valuable I am just of the opinion that it could benefit from being packaged in way to make it a little more engaging. If the videos were almost presented like a conference talk (ie, visuals behind the speaker which are the primary focus, walking on a stage, hand motions etc) I think it would definitely help.

Totally agree with you she gives some good info but its too much being thrown at you i.e if you watch usability foundations with Dan Gorgone the way he mixes information with practical uses is perfect because of the way it is all broken down. The course would be much better if they took a similar approach to usability foundations

Not to be that guy, but I'm actually enjoying it... I have waay more trouble staying engaged with the learning of a new programming language to be honest.

I'm a UX designer and I found this course hard to listen to. I started watching just out of curiosity...but I agree, the format could use some work!

It's the worse part of this course, which has been amazing... She talks about user experience but the whole experience of learning this stuff is booring!

me too. I enjoyed an 800 page book on this more than this video. I'm about to close video 1. I've already opened other tabs. Jesus. and I love UX/UI

My thought is that it could benefit from some activities to add an extra level of engagement. The quizzes do a good job of making it more interactive though!

Here is what I suggest. Watch these videos, take notes (using Evernote...had to throw it out there), and then create a slideshow or presentation of your own that is more engaging. In doing this, you will learn a lot more about whatever subject it is you apply this to. If you find extra information, make enough changes, and launch it as a free course from yourself. Looks great on a resume. Hope this helps.
