Hi mate,

it is asking you to turn the variable id to upper case and set it under the variable userName, so try this instead.

var id = "23188xtr"; var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id.toUpperCase();

Here's a few hints:

  • the variable you want to make upper case is "id", not "str"
  • you won't need to use alert for this challenge
  • you do need to assign the result of the uppercase conversion to the userName variable
