Not sure what is being asked in 2nd step

The question is also not clear "if a com.example.BlogPost is passed in for obj that you then cast it to a BlogPost" ??

it wants you to test on whether the object is a BlogPost. If so, it wants you to return the title of the blogpost. if you're still stuck:

  public static String getTitleFromObject(Object obj) {
    // Fix this result variable to be the correct string.
    if(obj instanceof String) return (String) obj;
    String result = "";
    if(obj instanceof BlogPost) {
      BlogPost bp = (BlogPost) obj;
      result =  bp.getTitle();
    }

    return result;
  }
