4,346 PointsI agree this video is confusing because of the brackets introduced without any prior info.

14,943 PointsThe square brackets in this video aren't part of the JavaScript code, they are enclosed in quotes and simply a formatting choice by Dave on how to display the number of remaining questions in the dialog boxes.

8,788 Pointsright i was like did i miss something, that was the first time he has used them, things are not being explain in great detail, its like he's skipping all over, a bit of this and that, so confusing at time.

2,641 PointsI'm also confused. I did see yesterday someone bring attention to the brackets (we hadn't seen that before and I think many of us looked over it thinking they were parentheses) and the plus signs around the variable meaning something in JavaScript and not being part of the string....
For this one I'm going to keep looking in the questions to see if it was resolved but I might have to google about it. I'm right there with you on this one. The rest of the course so far has been great though. This video in particular takes a bit of leap though, I feel.

8,788 Pointsreally confused, did not follow that very well.

1,556 PointsThe brackets are merely just for aesthetic purposes. It doesn't really affect the code itself. And also take note that it is in single quote marks so that just says that it's a string. Although I have to agree that this video was a little confusing and I have to watch it 5 times and write it down to fully understand. :)
