Android Build an Interactive Story App The Rest of the Story Navigation with Back and Up

The Up button does not display on the Action bar in the emulator after setting parentActivityName, why not?

In the video, "Navigation with Back and Up" in "Build an Interactive Story App", the Up button in the Action bar should appear after setting the parentActivityName.

Here is my code: <activity android:name=".ui.StoryActivity" android:parentActivityName=".ui.MainActivity"> </activity>

My emulator is the Nexus 5X with API 15.

Attribute parentActivityName is only used in API level 16 and higher.
