Python Development Techdegree Student 36,887 PointsAhh, that makes sense. By default Excel (and I assume Google Sheets) will include rows hidden by filters when using formulas like SUM(). The logic behind this is that filters only affect what you see, not what the underlying data is, while the formulas work on the data regardless of whether it is visible.
You might find that a formula like SUMIF is the best in a scenario like this.

Is it possible that you sorted or otherwise manipulated the data before trying to compute the totals?
What formulae did you use to compute your totals?
