Because you didn't even do the 2nd challenge..

For this challenge you need to make another if statement comparing the secondExample to thirdExample. answer is below if your stuck

 if (secondExample.equalsIgnoreCase(thirdExample)); {
  console.printf("first and third are the same ignoring case");
 }

So I made a second if statement for firstExample

firstExample.equalsIgnoreCase("hello")); {
console.printf("first and third are the same ignoring case");
}

and it worked, but why do we need two statements? Also when I tried to place thirdExample instead of "hello", it wouldn't work :/

we need two statements because thats what the instructions said to do. And you have to write thirdExample not "hello" as, again, that is what the instructions stated
