Task 1 is no longer passing, which was only to import random.

I complete all the tasks up to the last which is to only write a while loop. which returns a random number and print if it's even or odd. I cant't spot if it's an error in syntax

even.py
import random
def even_odd(num):
    # If % 2 is 0, the number is even.
    # Since 0 is falsey, we have to invert it with not.
    return not num % 2 == 0
while start:
    if even_odd(random.randint(1, 99)):
        print("{} is even".format(num))
    else:
        print("{} is odd".format(num))
     start -= 1
start = 5

Whoops-- I didn't notice you weren't saving "num". This will fix it:

import random
def even_odd(num):
    # If % 2 is 0, the number is even.
    # Since 0 is falsey, we have to invert it with not.
    return not num % 2 == 0

start = 5
while start:
    num = random.randint(1,99) # HERE, save num

    # here is where we test num for even_odd
    if even_odd(num):
        print("{} is even".format(num))
    else:
        print("{} is odd".format(num))
     start -= 1

You need to move "start = 5" above the while loop. Sometimes syntax anomalies like that will confuse the automated grader.

Best of luck to you in your Python adventure!

import random
def even_odd(num):
    # If % 2 is 0, the number is even.
    # Since 0 is falsey, we have to invert it with not.
    return not num % 2 == 0

start = 5
while start:
    if even_odd(random.randint(1, 99)):
        print("{} is even".format(num))
    else:
        print("{} is odd".format(num))
     start -= 1

I moved start = 5 above the while loop and it's still giving me the same error.
