I feel like in portion of this section of Python, I am having to ask for help. I think some of the issue is that I'm not truly understanding what the directions are telling me to do.
In the directions, it states:
I think it's time for a snack. Luckily I have a string full of types of ice cream sundaes. Unluckily, they're all in one string and the string has semi-colons in it too.
Use .split() to break the available string apart on the semi-colons (;). Assign this to a new variable sundaes.
After I type my solution, I get this error.
Bummer! Don't change available.
So, am I supposed to assign the string to the new variable prior to splitting the string? I didn't see this covered in the video. I tried to reassign the variable before splitting the string and that wasn't correct either. Also, I tried, a space before .split and then no space and then (';') and then (' ; ') and then (";") and then (" ; ") all while trying space and then no space as well.
available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white".split(";")

You need to assign the result to a new variable named "sundaes"
available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white"
sundaes = available.split(';')

226 PointsOh, holy canolie, I didn't understand that's what was meant by assign the result to a new variable named "sundaes". I thought they meant sundaes="banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white".split(';'). I really don't understand these directions sometimes.
