Social Branding - Looking for help

Hi everyone,

I am creating a small web application and I wanted to use fontawesome icons for linkedin github and a link to team treehouse.

Am I at risk by using icons for linkedin and github and changing its color? I noticed treehouse use their own social icons.

You're not at risk. Changing fonticon colors is more common than you think. The only thing would be just don't use logos in a way that wouldn't be acceptable such as modfying in such a way that makes the company look bad. I personally find it better when I use their brand colors so people are more familiar with the icon.
