When I copy and paste the code from( index .html ) into the console to receive the output from the (script .js) code, I receive the following syntax error:" SyntaxError: Unexpected token '<'"

  • The code used is below-

<!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta charset="utf-8"> <title>JavaScript Basics</title> <link href="css/style.css" rel="stylesheet"> <script src="js/script.js"></script> </head> <body> <main> <h1>Hello, JavaScript!</h1> <script> alert("Another message index.html");</script> </main> </body> </html>

The console doesn't know how to interpret HTML code, so that response is correct.

HTML code should be entered in the editor window frame above the console, when you have the index.html file open. You will then need to save your changes into the file and then use the "preview" button to see the results.

You might want to take the Using Treehouse Workspaces workshop.

Cool, another teacher said. If you don`t save there will be no changes. You must remember to save, otherwise the page does not change.
