Design Illustrator Foundations How to Draw in Illustrator The Pencil Tool

Smooth tool won't work

I've drawn a jagged line with the pencil tool, and now I want to smooth the edges with the Smooth Tool, like in the video. For some reason it doesn't work. Nothing changes while I'm drawing the lines above the selected jagged line path.

I'm working in Illustrator CC (2014).

Can anyone tell me what am I doing wrong?

Thanks, M.

I just watched the video and the person had to do it like 20-30 times before seeing a very small change, maybe it's not what you are doing, it may just not apparent until you've done it a bunch of times. Also try aiming for anchor points, and use different directions when intersecting the anchor points, this might help see the smoothing effect.

Hey, Christopher,

Thank you for the response. I've tried that already, but nothing really changes. Anyway, I'll play with it until I find out what's going on.

Thanks, anyway. M.
